Unit 6 How do you feel?

Ⅰ.Background information
1. Students: 26 primary school students, Grade 6
2. Lesson duration: 40 minutes
Ⅱ.Teaching aims
 By the end of the class, students should be able to:
 1. use the new vocabulary of feels in English correctly and fluently;
 2. ask and answer questions about one’s feel;
    3. master the usage of “be” and adjectives.
Ⅲ. Language contents and skills
    1. Contents:
a. Vocabulary: happy /sad/angry/worried/afraid.
b. Target structures: (1) A: How do you feel?
                    B: I am happy/sad/angry/worried/afraid...
                      (or I feel happy/sad/angry/worried/afraid)  
                  (2)主语+ be/feel(系动词) +形容词(作表语) 
                  (3)be afraid of...       害怕什么.......
  c. Teaching main and difficult points:
    Spell the words of feels in English and use the target structures.
   2. Skills: communicative skills (listening, speaking, translating)

 Step1. Greeting and question (3mins)
T: Good morning, boys and girls.
Ss: Good morning.
T: Are you happy today?
Ss: Yes. How about you, Miss Sun?
T: I am happy, too.
T: Now let’s begin our class. Today, we will learn the new lesson- Unit 6 How do you feel? Do you know the meaning of it?
Ss: 你感觉怎么样?
T: Yes, Good. Read after me,“How do you feel?”
T: OK. Firstly, let’s listen to the music- If you’re happy, clap your hands.
Ss: (师生一起跟着音乐的节奏拍拍手跺跺脚...融入英语教学中)
T: The music is very beautiful. After the music, I will ask you a question: How do you feel now?(同时展示几张关于喜怒哀乐表情的图片)And do you know how to speak them in English?
S: No.
T: OK. Let’s learn them one by one.
Step2. Use pictures to introduce the new words (10mins)
T: Look at the first picture. (PPT展示一张小女孩高兴的图片) The girl is smiling. So the girl is...?
Ss: 高兴的,开心的。
T: Do you know how to speak the sentence in English? (生摇头)Follow me, the girl is very happy. Happy - happy - happy. (练读)
Ss: The girl is very happy. Happy - happy - happy.
(接着分男生女生进行练读)
T: Very good. Now let’s read the word and do action. OK? Please, follow me. (师边读单词边做出高兴的动作,生边跟读单词边模仿。)
Ss: Happy, happy-happy-happy.
  (分组进行边读单词边做动作练习)
T: (出示PPT图片)当你们看到父母为你买的生日礼物时,你们会...?
Ss: Happy.
T: Yes. Very good. Let’s see the next picture. (PPT出示一张孩子伤心哭啼的图片)
.......
(以类似的方法学习单词sad/angry/worried)
T: Now let’s look at the last picture. There are a... (指图片引导学生说出man) and a...(指图片引导学生说出tiger) 从这个男子的表情和手势你们可以看出这个男子......?
Ss:害怕的。
T: Yes. So the man is afraid. Please read after me.
Ss: The man is afraid. (男生女生分组练读)
T: You are excellent!现在让我们“低声读,大声读”这个单词  – afraid↑(低声) afraid↓(大声)
Ss: afraid↑(低声) afraid↓(大声)
T: Quite good. The man is so afraid that he says a sentence – I am afraid of tigers. Do you know the meaning?
Ss: 我害怕老虎。(老虎这单词以前学过)
T: Yes. You are so clever. You should pay attention to the structure of “be afraid of... ”害怕什么..... Can you use this structure to make a sentence?
S1: I’m afraid of dogs.
T: Well done. How to translate “我们害怕黑暗。” ?(黑暗darkness. 引导学生翻译)
Ss: We are afraid of darkness.
Step3. Checking the words (2 mins)
T: Yes, right. We have learned all the main words. Can you remember all the words?
Ss: (生边回忆边说出)happy-sad-angry-worried-afraid.
T: You have a good memory.(师表扬生并鼓掌给生以鼓励)
Step4. Introduce the structure and practice. (6 mins)
T: OK. Pay attention to my question, please. How do you feel? You can use which word to answer?
Ss: happy-sad-angry-worried-afraid.
T: You are right. Today, I will teach you the complete answer structure. (教授回答的完整结构)
(出示回答句子的完整结构的PPT,引导学生说)
Ss: I am happy/sad/angry/worried/afraid.
T: OK, we can also say... (根据PPT指导学生说)
Ss: I feel happy/sad/angry/worried/afraid.
T: Now, let’s practice the structures. First, boys ask and girls answer. And then girls ask and boys answer. (先男生问女生回答,再女生问男生答。)  Do you understand?
Ss: Yes.(生按男女分组进行操练)
T: All of you have done a good job. Can you find out the structure of the answer sentence? Please look at the blackboard.
(出示PPT: 主语+ be/feel(系动词) +形容词(作表语) 并讲解“be”和形容词用法 )
T: Can you use the structure to make sentences?
(出示题目:1. 他很生气。2. She is very sad.  3. 我们很开心。)
S1: 1.He is very angry.
S2: 2.她很伤心。
S3: 3.We are very happy.
Step5. Let’s learn and let’s do.(10mins)
T: You are so great. Now, let’s turn to page 59. After finishing all the words and structures, this part is quite easy. How many pictures are there?
Ss: Four.
T: You are right. Look at the first picture, the bottle broken, so Sarah is( angry) . The cat is (afraid). (引导学生说出来)
Ss: Sarah is angry . The cat is afraid. (首先学生齐读,然后找个人读)
(以类似的方式学习后3幅图片的句子,重点引导学生说)
T: Now let’s write and say. I will give you 2 minutes, and you can discuss with your partners and write down the answers on the lines.
Good try. All of you have done a good job, but I hope you can be more active in class.
Ss: (学生在老师鼓励下一个一个回答)
Step6. Let’s play games.6mins
T: OK. Now let’s practice. Firstly, there is a challenge game for every student. At first, I will tell you the game rule, and I will show you the pictures of subjects for one second per picture, and you should write down the words of feels in proper order. Are you ready? Go!
T: Have you written them down? Is it a bit of challenging? Who would like to share your answers with?
S: ...(生回答)
T: Are there some different answers? If not, let’s check her answer. ... Absolutely right. That is to say, all of you have done a good job.
T: Another game is that I will ask pairs of students to come to the teacher’s desk to practice the words and sentences and do actions for us.
(师准备数张关于感受的图片并写上单词,要求一学生抽取卡片,让其搭档说出英语句子并表演感受的动作。要求学生到讲台表演,锻炼其胆量。鼓励数组学生以此方法进行游戏。)
T: You are so active. All of you have done a good job.
Ⅵ.Summary (2mins)
T: OK. At last, let’s review what we have learnt today.
1. This lesson we have learned some new words: happy高兴的,         sad伤心的难过, angry生气的, worried担心的, afraid害怕的 
  2. New structures: - How do you feel? (你感觉怎么样?)
                 - I'm / feel + adj.(我感觉......)
3. 主语+ be/feel(系动词) +形容词(作表语) 
  4.be afraid of...      害怕什么.......
Ⅶ.Homework (1mins)
T: Owing to your excellent performance and active cooperation, I will assign you some homework. OK. Here is your homework.
1. Write these new words for 3 times.
       (单词抄3遍)
2. Practice these phrases and do actions with    you partners.
     (和同桌边做动作边练习词组)
3. Sing the clap song to your parents.
     (把幸福拍手歌唱给你们的父母听)

IX. Reflection
      The students are very active during the class. Using music to lead in can easily arise students interest, which can make students be involved in English learning. And the part of games can guide students to speak English in the game. But time is limited, not all the students have the chance to show in class.
